Inspired by glorious Balinese, Tulum and Zen architecture, Casa Kamala is a luxurious retreat that reflects the magical merging of island living and contemporary sophistication. Situated on the island of Isla Mujeres in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula with stunning views of the Caribbean sea are seen from both the front and back of the home, creating an almost 360 degree vista.
The 3-bedroom, 6 bath home is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship of natural materials. Every detail has been carefully crafted, featuring hand painted concrete floors, Brazilian hardwood floors of Cumaru (Brazilian hardwood), walls and ceiling of Chukum (made from a Mayan root), Balinese Sukabumi tiled pool and accented with bamboo and teak.
Swim in the salt-water, heated pool lined with Sukabumi natural stone brought from Bali to revive and refresh with minerals infused in the water. A backdrop of a serene Buddha statue oversees the setting, which at night creates a reflection of the Buddha and onyx moon on the water. Together with the patio, the home offers outdoor living and indoor air-conditioned comfort.
The top-of-the-line gourmet kitchen with professional grade appliances will inspire your inner chef. The center island with seating is a perfect setting for relaxing and entertaining.
The master bedroom is the ultimate retreat facing the turquoise blue waters, complete with a spa-like bath and open shower. All bedrooms are ensuite with full bathrooms, king beds, ceiling fans, AC and luxury linens with all down bedding.
A private outdoor shower awaits in the third story thatch-covered palapa, with full grill and cooking area. The shaded palapa is the perfect setting for sunrise and sunsets, siestas, meditation, massage or yoga. A constant balmy ocean breeze provides a tranquil atmosphere.
In Pre-Columbian times the island was sacred to the Maya goddess of childbirth and medicine, Ixchel. When the Spanish arrived in the 16th century they named it “Isla Mujeres” because of the many images of goddesses.
The island has a small local population, colorful reefs and some of the most beautiful beaches of the world. On this very laid-back island, water sport activities abound, including scuba diving, snorkeling, or just simply swimming in the calm and warm coastal waters.
